Up till now, acquiring aerial video footage, or still images of a subject has been virtually impossible without the use of a full-scale airplane or helicopter. Vortex has changed this with the introduction of a new and revolutionary capture platform.

Over the last 10 years Vortex Aerial has conceived, developed, and perfected a vehicle that has no equal in the acquisition of low-level aerial pictures. No one at the moment is even remotely capable of producing our results. This new approach to taking aerial images utilizes an unmanned, radio controlled, helicopter that is piloted from the ground, which requires incredible skill.

It is powered by an electric motor so there is no sound being emitted. In fact, the helicopter is as quiet as a ceiling fan and unless you are looking at it you would not know it was in the air. The aircraft is equipped with a professional quality digital camera that is mounted to a unique pan and tilt mechanism. It’s designed to provide a stable platform for capturing crystal clear, vibration-free images while in flight.

The captured images are transmitted via microwave to a monitor on the ground. This allows the camera operator total control of the camera’s view at all times. For example, if you need close-in detailed pictures of a subject, the pilot can maneuver the aircraft into an exact location so that the camera is positioned to obtain the perfect angle and lighting. Furthermore, the helicopter can hover at virtually any altitude to get the best perspective.

The machine will take off and land virtually anywhere allowing operation in areas that are totally inaccessible. It can be flown off of cliffs, bluffs, over water, in between trees or buildings…no terrain is impossible. Application for this unique camera platform is limited only by your imagination..
